Yesterday I had a conversation with my stepson and his friend about superpowers. We each selected the superhuman power we wanted to possess. My stepson went for mind control, his friend chose X-ray vision, and I opted for mind reading. Though both are forms of telepathy, it's interesting that my stepson wanted to control someone's thoughts whereas I only wanted to read someone's thoughts. Mind reading would be useful in any dealings I have with people and especially in any negotiations.
What superpower or superpowers would you most like to have?
As well as mind reading, I'd like the ability to fly like a bird and to grant three wishes like a genie.
The Superpower Wiki website aims to document "every single superpower that has ever revealed itself in any form of fiction." There are over 20,000 pages on this website - I wasn't sad enough to go beyond the first page!
Last year YouGov conducted a survey of British people and asked them what one superpower they most wanted. Unfortunately I couldn't find room in the poll, for example, ability to communicate with animals, ability to create anything, ability to generate a protective force field, ability to hear like a cat, ability to scale buildings like Spider-Man, ability to see at night, ability to smell like a dog, ability to swim underwater like a fish, ability to walk on water, clairvoyance, exorcism, mimicry, nihilikinesis (power to remove things from existence), omnilingualism (ability to speak any language), space travel, and weather control.

The ability to eliminate people who prey on other people like rapists, murderers, people who abuse children and elderly sexually or mentally, people who abuse their power over others, and greedy people who take from every one only to benefit themselves, very much like Donald Trump, Epstein and their whole mass of associates, all included.

I'd like to know the right thing to say in any situation that will make things better.

The ability to fly. In my younger days, I always had dreams about hovering over the backyard. I experienced that power in hot air balloons where the basket floated silently over the landscape. That matched my dreams of hovering over the backyard.
I often dream about flying. I love those dreams.
I chose healing powers as there are so many that need healing more than ever. And I so enjoy helping as many people as I can. It truly makes me feel good like I could accomplish something that truly helps others.

Healing powers are a very popular choice.
I chose healing. So many people who are ill or sick can have a better way of life if their health was better. I wouldn't tell anyone, but I would secretly make them better.

@spunkycumfun I wish I had that power to heal my parents from the illness they had as they were older. My heart goes out to those folks who suffer due to illness.

After narrowing things down, I chose healing, teleportation and other.
My super healing power will be both for myself and others.
Flying sounds good until you specify "like a bird". Which bird? Some fly better than others plus I don't want to tire myself out flapping my arms ergo ... teleportation.
Other? Protective shielding against physical and mental damage. Keep those mind-readers out of my head!

There was a very good This American Life episode a long time ago where they asked people whether they'd rather be able to fly or be able to become invisible. There was some discussion of it being a personality test of sorts - invisibility is a sneaky power, whereas flying is aspirational.

Photographic memory - I used to have a really good memory, it's starting to fail
Pre-cognition - I could game the stock market! More importantly, even though it would be depressing knowing at what age I'm going to really start to fail, it would give me the knowledge to take action if I knew a long period of being bedridden/disabled was ahead for me.
Invisibility is a very sneaky superpower. I think telepathy, especially mind control, is even sneakier.
I like the thought of omnilingualism (I can only speak a few words in a few different languages, couldn't carry on a conversation with anyone in those different languages). Would like to be able to speak different languages. Also chose mind reading and precognition.

Last was other. The ability to breathe underwater. I got that one from my diving instructor who couldn't wait until they could give him gills and he could ditch the tank.
