I was in NY for an appointment yesterday. I go in early to walk around a bit. I passed the 9/11 memorial site and noticed someone adding white roses before opening. I always thought they were placed by family members. I checked into this and found that the staff adds a rose for the birthday of the victims. After opening, I snapped a photo.

It's a fabulous memorial, very fitting and very moving. Both times I've been I got chatting to police officers who were there on the day and had personally lost family and friends. The birthday rose is a very touching gesture.

It took me a while before I was ready to go. I still have to visit the museum there. I will do that soon.
