as i wrote in this blog post:what is going on?, ive been watching my alerts.
yesterday i woke up to 55 alerts of people who are following me. i looked closer and the follows were mostly one person, that is a glitch for sure!
yesterday I was at 5003 followers. today i am at 5102 followers.

Perhaps the new CEO can comment on this and other evidence of membership-numbers-being-artificially-boosted-by-fake-profiles syndrome. ive been seeing this for damn near 20 years... and yet here i am... still the glutton for punishment like a fool.
im pretty sure he has seen the concerns, rants, and pissed off posts.
also, after being followed by one fella 8 times, i clicked on his profile, and you guessed it, a brand new profile! seriously.....SMH
I get 10 to 30 messages a day saying "..... is now following you" (or something like that). My count stays at 10.
I don't know if I should count myself lucky or not.
@mysexualgoodtime Please check your Alert Settings to see if this option is turned on. If it is, try switching it off and see if your notifications behave differently.

Is THIS the first time YOU are hearing about this problem/GLITCH?
This is NOT a user "settings" issue.
It is a site-wide glitch where users (ALL of us) are getting alerts about NEW followers who NEVER appear as NEW followers.
The alert comes in, the chime rings, and a name appears (usually level ONE) who has just joined the site — on that day.
NEW "Followers" numbers never increase.
THIS is NOT a "clear your cache, re-boot your PC, click a button on OUR end problem."
The issue is on YOUR end: it is an AFF glitch that has existed for over three months now.
Please... FFS, don't insult every member of AFF by suggesting WE do something on OUR end.
This is a "your end" AFF problem/glitch/programming/site-wide F-UP.

@Paulxx001 one of my biggest complains is why alerts take forever to appear after selecting to view them. and the insane amount of followers that arent real, arent reflected.

Yeah... It's annoying, for sure. I've gotten used to it. But if I don't pop into this site for a day or so, I'm welcomed with about 70 to clear away.

I have six-ten new followers each day, but the number of followers never goes up. It’s a feature, not a bug .
The glitch of the phantom followers has been going on for quite some time now.
They don't appear to be phantoms, as I review the photo-less, et al crowd as soon as they show up in ALERTS. And some come back, banging on the locked door, until they give up. I think they are real.
@NakedSenses You're right in that the re are profiles. I use the 'phantom' word because my followed count barely moves despite their influx.

This has been dragging on for months now.
It's a very poor reflection on you all for doing absolutely zero to fix it.
We just have to put up with it.
